I noticed two problems for this Social Media Infographic:
- This is data from April 2010, released in November of 2010. In the realm of Social Media and Marketing this infographic might as well be based on data from the 1980′s. I’d love to see how people are using Social Media for 2011.
- 9% of people plan to increase their investment in … wait for it…. MySpace. Wow, we really need to educate the marketers out there ;)
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. What problems do you see in this Social Media Infographic?
You can see the original data in a post from SME and download the PDF Whitepaper.

Apropos of nothing, but your opening comments brought it to mind. I’m a big fan of used book sales. Topics of particular interest include U.S. History, Business, and Social Media. However, when a book on Social Media (or an infographic for that matter) BECOMES history, that’s bad for business! Technology changes so quickly that those who are not constantly scanning the horizon risk missing the boat!

Brian, it’s very difficult to continually watch the horizon the tech news etc. But I think there are tiers. Tier1= Those in San Francisco and those closest to the technology, then folks like you and I who watch the first tier people are the second tier. Others would be tier 3. It’s the tier 2 people that need to inform tier 3 people of how not to miss the boat. For example: there are millions of social networks, however only a few are important to businesses. If a new network comes out it will take a while to filter to tier 3 and most die before they get to tier 3. It’s a natural “social” flow.
